How to Keep Your Lingerie Healthy and Clean

We all know that a pretty decent amount of money goes into buying good quality lingerie. It'd be a mighty shame if this 'high end' (especially boudoir designs) material was to suffer an early death. Why? Because a lack of care does it faster than anything else. Some of us like to buy lacy delicate stuff, which is even harder to maintain then your regular underwear. Difficult yes, but, not at all impossible. Taking care of your lingerie requires that you give specific attention to a few things like storage, washing and arrangemeant. Usually underwear comes with precise instructions on how to manage their care. Even reading all the instructions and labels clearly saves you from a lot of hassle later on.

Storing Your Lingerie

It's always a good idea to keep the boxes your lingerie initially arrived in for future storage. But, if that seems like a lot, just use clear plastic storage packets/bags. This way your laces and threads nicely protected. Plus, you can easily find whatever you're looking for. If it's not your usual sets, but a space consuming item, like a corset, then it's a good idea to use fabric lingerie bags and save drawer space. Oh, and a special tip: don't throw away the hosiery packaging. It's going to help prevent any future damage to your delicate lingerie.

Washing Your Lingerie with Care (AND love!)

Okay so undoubtedly, washing your lingerie is the trickiest part of this care system. The best way out, to avoid any risks of damage whatsoever, is to 'hand wash' your lingerie. It seems like a lot of work. But it will hardly take you 15-20 minutes and this is where you show your love for your prized purchases.

This exercise will end up saving almost all of your lingerie from deterioration. Whenever you're washing your delicate lingerie, be certain that you use cold water. Warm water ends up damaging bra straps and stretching the fabric.  After you've given everything a good soak, 'squeeze' the water out gently. This will prevent the fabric from stretching or bending.  Following these two simple steps, you can avoid any potential damage that a machine wash could do to your collection.
