I’m sure we’ve all witnessed the horrific outcomes of tumble drying or machine washing our bras. Once you start machine washing and tumble drying your bras, you will observe a gradual decline. If you still plan to do so, prepare yourself for a horrific ride. It all starts with poking out under-wires, missing diamante gems, worn out fabric, faded color, thinning fabric, tiny little holes and other terrible outcomes.
Machine Washing Your Bras:
Even right after the first machine wash, you will notice a fluffiness at the centre of the bra cups. While machine wash doesn’t affect the bra straps like tumble drying does, you will still notice a slight loosening and stretching in the straps. Even the structure of your bra is also affected by machine washing, the under-wires start pulling out leaving the bra looking half deformed. Pulled out under-wires can be the worst sort of damage for your bras because these make your bras practically impossible to wear.
Tumble Drying Your Bras:
If machine washing sounded bad to you, rest assured, tumble dying is almost ten times worse. Everything that a machine wash does to your bras, a tumble dryer does with a greater intensity. Where machine drying makes the bra cups fluffy, tumble drying makes them plain squiggly, and that’s just what a single wash will do, wash it for a third time and you’d hardly call the bra wearable. You will notice that, unlike machine washing, tumble drying will actually affect your bra straps greatly. Within a few washes the straps will start to twist around and loosen up, making your bra slackened. That’s not even the worst part. When you put your bras in the tumble dryer and the bands of your bras will be totally turned over! Tons of scientific research proves that tumble dryers may do irreparable damage to your clothes. Three ways that a dryer can distinctly hurt fabric are: shrinkage, color transference, and actually shredding the material.
Hand Washing your Bras
So ladies, I’m sure after spending greatly on your lingerie collections, definitely, you would not want to see them in such a condition. The key to keeping your bras in good condition is hand washing them. Hand-washing your bras, is extremely easy and it hardly takes up to 20 minutes of your time. You won’t have to witness your bras tearing apart. It is best to avoid both tumble drying and machine washing your bras for as long as possible.
